Grade 7 Assembly

Class: Grade 7

Date: 05/04/2023

Good afternoon school on this wonderful warm Wednesday afternoon. Let us give thanks to God for
His blessings upon us and join the choir as we sing the hymn Way maker.

(Hymn)

Today’s assembly is conducted by Grade 7. The scripture and Preamble will be read by Juheeta
Banerjee. Vivaan Patekar will lead us in prayer and the story will be read-out by Tiannah
Amlani .

Today’s scripture is taken from St. Paul’s Letter to the Philippians chapter 2 , verse 8:

“He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

(PAUSE) This is the Word of the Lord.

Kindly be seated and listen to today’s short story:

God gave Jonah a job to do. He wanted Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh and warn them that God
was planning to discipline all the people there because of their evil behaviour. But instead of doing
what God asked, Jonah ran away. He joined some sailors on a boat.

God knew where Jonah was and chose to discipline him. When God sent a frightening storm, Jonah
realised the storm was his fault. Jonah told the sailors to throw him overboard to save their own
lives. Instead of letting Jonah drown, God sent a big fish to swallow him. Jonah spent three days
and nights in the belly of the fish.

When Jonah was in the fish, he prayed and told God that he was sorry for not obeying. God let
Jonah out of the fish, giving him another chance. This time Jonah was ready to obey God. He went
and told the people of Nineveh that God wanted them to stop doing wrong.

(Pause)

Thought for Today:

Obedience is the sure and promised way for unlocking blessings for our lives.

Kindly compose yourself for the prayer.

Dear God, please give me a humble heart to yield to your instructions at all times, so that I
can prosper. Help me to obey you.

Let me follow when you lead, and let me be willing to receive your blessings whenever you are
ready to hand them over.

We make this prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Let us all say the Lord’s Prayer.

Kindly Stand at attention as the Preamble is read out.
