Scripture Reading: The Scripture reading is taken from Psalms, chapter 57, verse 2.
‘I will hide you beneath the shadow of my wings until this violent storm passes.’

Story: CUSHION OF THE SEA

Several years ago a submarine was being tested and had to remain submerged for
many hours. When it returned to the harbour, the Captain was asked, “How did the
terrible storm last night affect you?”

The officer looked at him in surprise and exclaimed, “Storm? What storm are
you talking about? We didn’t even know there was one.‼”
The submarine had been so far beneath the surface that it had reached the area known
as ‘The Cushion of the Sea’. Although the ocean may be whipped into huge waves by
high winds, the waters below are never stirred.

Reflection: Though we have trials and troubles in life, our faith in Christ gives us an
anchor in the storm and a hiding place in the shadow of his wings.

Thought for the day: The peace of God is that eternal calm which, like the
CUSHION OF THE SEA, lies far too down to be reached by any disturbance.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of life and all the blessings. Life
in this world is not free of trials and challenges. Hide us under your wings and give us
a sense of calm and inner peace when we have to face storms in our life. We pray for
your divine protection upon our Management, Principal, Vice-Principal,
administrators, staff members, students and their families. We pray for Mr. Heiden’s
brother, Mr. Keith Heiden. Let your healing power touch him. In Jesus’s most
precious name we pray. Amen.

Let us continue with the Lord’s Prayer.
Our Father …………….. Amen.

Significance of the Day: International Youth Day is celebrated on 12th August around
the world to focus on the development and protection of youth in society.

The theme for International Youth Day this year is –
Intergenerational Solidarity: Creating a World for All Ages.
The theme aims to give the message that action is needed across all generations to
achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and leave no one behind. It also will
create awareness on certain barriers to intergenerational solidarity, notably ageism
which impacts young and old people leading to detrimental effect on society.

Kindly stand to attention for the School song.

Have a blessed day.
