Afternoon Assembly 27.04.2022

Good afternoon school. Today’s assembly is conducted by the students of Grade
6 and the theme is ‘Nothing can dim the light that shines from within. ’

Kindly join us in singing the hymn: Way maker

The scripture will be read by Juheeta Banerjee

The story will be narrated by Areebah Fatima

And Tiannah Amlani will lead us in prayer.

Today’s Scripture reading is taken from The Gospel of John chapter 8 verse 12
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who
follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

This is the Word of the Lord. (Thanks be to God)

Kindly be seated and listen to today’s short story

Once upon a time, there was a small town. There lived a man by himself who
couldn’t see. He was blind. Yet, he carried a lighted lamp with him whenever he
went out at night.

One night as he was coming home after having dinner outside, he came across a
group of young travelers. They saw that he was blind, yet carrying a lighted
lamp. They started passing comments on him and made fun of him. One of
them asked him, “Hey! You are blind and can’t see anything! Why do you carry
the lamp then?”

The blind man replied, “Yes, unfortunately, I am blind and I can’t see anything
but a lighted lamp which I am carrying, is for people like you who can’t see if
there is darkness around. You may not be able to see me coming and end up
pushing me. That is why I carry a lighted lamp”.

The group of travelers felt ashamed and apologized for their behavior.

Thought for the day:
Know that darkness is merely the absence of light. You can be a small candle
that defeats the vast darkness.

Kindly compose yourself for the prayer.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father,

Thank you for always being a light in the dark places of our lives.
Our hope is in God,
for you are the light of the world
and you call us to be lights for others.
May your light and love blaze in us and in all the world.
All for your glory do we pray,
In the name of Jesus
Amen.

Let us now say The Lord’s Prayer.

Kindly stand at attention for the School song.
